Ah, the exhibition center. A glorious coliseum of tradeshows, expos, and awkward conversations about “synergy.” Every week, tens of thousands descend upon these concrete megastructures in search of the latest smart toothbrush, crypto-coffee-startup, or that one booth giving away tote bags and candy. But behind the LED walls, neon signage, and free espresso lies a brutal truth: the networking situation is a total circus, with tons of manual work and unpredictable results.
Let’s set the scene.
At AppLogic, we took one look at this challenging networking situation and said, “Hold my config file.”
We believe exhibition centers shouldn’t just toss up some access points and call it a day. These are modern digital marketplaces — they deserve personalised, intelligent, application-aware networking.
And that starts with one thing: Application QoE.
We don’t mean just “Is the network up?” We mean:
Not all shows are created equal. The biggest show on the calendar for us at AppLogic Networks is Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Hundreds of thousands of visitors, thousands of exhibitors. Exhibitor wifi is thousands of dollars per day. How can it be that much? Well, because exhibitors will gladly pay it. So there’s definitely money to be made here if the packaging is done right.
But it starts with the traffic. Nobody is going to pay for poor networking. At AppLogic Networks we pride ourselves in our ability to score the Application QoE. Think of it as simply what the users are feeling when using apps on the network. Is it good (5) or really poor (1). Now break that down per app, per access point, per exhibitor, device, visitor, staff, building, time of day etc. Once you know where you’re strong and weak, you can start investing in improving your network.
Exhibitors aren’t all the same. Some are launching world-changing SaaS platforms. Others are demoing biodegradable shoelaces. Their networking needs — and budgets — differ wildly.
That’s why we give each exhibitor a personalised network:
And the best part? They choose and provision all of this through a friendly self-service portal.
Oh, and pricing? It can vary per show. Big show with 100k visitors? Premium packages. Smaller, intimate fair about artisanal pickles? Scaled-down options. Your portal can adjust pricing dynamically, and once the exhibitor hits “Buy,” our backend kicks in like a caffeinated IT gremlin and provisions everything automatically.
Visitors should have a great networking experience. But not at the expence of exhibitor wifi not working properly. So we make sure exhibitor packets are prioritized at all times.
And, if you want personalisation for visitors too, that’s easy to set up. E.g free WiFi is 5 Mbps, VIP is unlimited speeds but $5 per day per device. Not a bad extra source of revenue.
AppLogic’s system also makes sure all the exhibition center internal applications and systems work well and are prioritized.
How much internet capacity do you need for the exhibition center? 1 Gbps? 10 Gbps? 100 Gbps? Well, how do you tell? You’re probably over-paying, just to make sure.
With AppLogic Networks, we help you analyse the peak loads and what they are made up of. If it’s recreational traffic like visitors watching NetFlix or uploading videos to ICloud, then that can be shaped down a bit to save connectivity costs.
AppLogic makes it simple:
Let’s make your networking setup less “overcaffeinated spiderweb” and more “orchestrated symphony.”
