With most of us in the Northern Hemisphere on summer break, the annual debate begins: Should I stay connected, or go full digital detox? If you’re cruising this summer, let me save you the suspense: App-solutely stay connected.
I’ll admit, I almost didn’t buy the internet package. I thought, maybe I CAN use a little digital detox. And it didn’t help that I found out in the mornings that I could occasionally get a trickle of service… Aside from thinking “wow, these guys are probably losing money”, the thought of being partially connected might work. But being teased with a halfway decent connection just angered me.
Cruise lines know this. WiFi is part of the vacation experience. Better yet, our Apps are part of our lives. Don’t tell me, we don’t want to share on our socials fun moments on the ship, sunsets from the top deck as it’s happening, and pics of the people who mean the most to us. On top of that, we want music for those lounge chair moments, and video calls with those back home. And yes, maybe a quick check in Slack to stay in the loop or at least reminding people you’re on vacation.
Suffice to say, today’s cruise experiences aren’t complete without a great digital experience. Being connected is a bare minimum, but making connected memories IS the endgame. And delivering high-quality internet in the middle of the ocean isn’t exactly plug-and-play. Behind the scenes, there’s some pretty serious tech keeping things smooth, experiences optimal, and connectivity seamless with no internet leakage. Managed service providers are stepping up, and are powered by companies like AppLogic Networks, who make sure that your apps work exactly how they should, wherever you are.
Satellite providers figured this out a long time ago with commercial aviation, and now the cruise ships are ‘onboard’ as well. AppLogic Networks is vital to travel experiences especially vacationers who aren’t afraid to admit they need to be connected.
So yes, you might be far from land. But you don’t have to be far from the people, the playlists, and places you experience, thanks to smart networks that take your experience into account.
Bon voyage!
Disclaimer: We at AppLogic Networks do not officially encourage working while on vacation. But if you must, we’re there for you.
